It’s day twenty-something of quarantine and I, like the rest of the world, am going crazy! I’m tired of walking through the same rooms day in and day out, staring at the same four walls (so to speak). I know it’s for our safety, but It’s definitely enough to make me feel a bit claustrophobic. So today, I decided, enough is enough. We’re “going out” for Sunday brunch! Well, kind of. I set up a beautiful tablescape, beneath a rose-colored cherry blossom tree in our backyard, and it was magical. Spending a few hours out of the house in a beautiful setting made me feel like I was getting the escape I needed.

My husband, stepson and I got dressed (yes no sweatpants allowed at this restaurant!), walked outside, and indulged in pasta, beef bordelaise, brussel sprouts, homemade granola, pink lemonade spritzers and champagne (for the adults). We laughed, talked and lost track of time as we listening to the birds chirp. I really wanted to share our Sunday brunch because it lifted all of our spirits so much, and gave us a much-needed escape from reality.

If you’re feeling like you need a little mood boost, I highly recommend stepping outside your front door (if it’s allowed in your city/state), staying at least 6 ft away from any passersby, setting up a tiny blanket and picnic basket, and spending an hour or two in the fresh air. If you have a yard, throw a fancy brunch or dinner party for you and your family. Bring a book and a blanket and spend the entire day outside. Sure, it’s a lot of effort (we took our table outside y’all!), but it’s well worth it. And I’m betting that you have a lot of time on your hands anyways.

Most importantly, stay safe!

  1. I loved the pictures! And I also am allllll about having some time spent in nature and dressing up. I live in the Tropics and not going outside feels like a tragedy. The sun is shining, the birds are singing and the sky is so blue. I am all about this idea and I love the spread too.

  2. Your photos are lovely and what a beautiful welcome to the warm weather. I think during these times we need to make the most of being home and you’ve inspired me to set up a nice outdoor brunch with the family!

  3. We live in a gated community and the only time we can go out is when we need to purchase food or medicine. My children are getting bored (they are young adults) but we do pass the time away by playing with our dog, watching movies together and cleaning the house and the driveway. I’d like to do as you did, but we don’t have much space in our backyard. Maybe I can set it up in our porch instead. Thank you for the idea.

  4. Thank you for sharing this article with everyone, good image content and article, very helpful to me, hope that you continue to share more useful things in the following articles.
