With the holiday season upon us, there are a few things that I can’t stop thinking about – family time, delicious food, Christmas music, and trimming the tree! But I also think about a possible spike in Covid 19 cases. The last thing that I want to do is show up at my 90-year old grandmother’s house with any kind of illness, whether it be Covid or a common cold. So to protect myself and my family, I always wear a mask when I travel.
At the height of the pandemic, I think we all tried our fair share of masks. In my experience, the most effective masks were generally the most uncomfortable. They had staples and rubber bands that poked my face, and they often left harsh lines on my skin long after I took them off. But we still wore them most of the day out of necessity.
Since then, I’ve learned that you don’t have to sacrifice comfort in order to get the protection of a highly effective mask. Makana Masks are lightweight and comfortable to wear, because the sides of the mask are covered with soft foam that contours to your face. I think the hardest thing about wearing a mask for a long period of time (like a cross country flight) is feeling like you can’t breathe normally, but even with Makana’s heavy duty N95 certified filter in my mask, I could still breathe easily. I also love that you can swap out the filter with a fresh one each day, without having to buy a whole new mask.
I don’t know about you, but I want piece of mind this holiday season. Makana is Hawaiian for “gift” and, to me, there’s no greater gift than spending time with family and friends. I want to be able to give my grandma, and everyone in my family, great big hugs without worry. I want to be able to stand shoulder-to-shoulder while we bake pie or flip through old photo albums. I want to keep everyone safe.
If you’re also looking for a lightweight, breathable and stylish mask to wear this holiday season, I highly recommend Makana! As an added bonus, for every mask you purchase, a portion of the profit goes to providing masks to underserved communities and to charities around the world.
Have a fun and safe Thanksgiving!
