The first step is to pat your lips dry and apply your darker color along the outer lines of your lips. I chose Rimmel London’s “Exaggerate Liner” in Obsession #064. After you apply a normal amount of lip liner, make the line a bit thicker and fill in the corners of your mouth.
The second step is to apply your lighter shade. For this I chose NYX cosmetics Matte Lipstick in “Pale Pink”. Apply a thick layer of the lipstick to the center of your lips and then smudge them together best you can.
The third step is to use a brush to blend away any harsh lines. I picked up a great set by Sonia Kashuk. Blend until the colors have mixed together to your liking. Since this was my first time, I eased into the trend by toning mine down a bit more. The fourth step is optional. I added just a touch of nude lipgloss to the center of my lips using MAC’s cremesheen gloss in “Fashion Whim”.

I’m so happy to be partnering with Target on today’s post. After asking you, my lovely readers, which topic you were most interested in reading about between an ombré lip tutorial, how to style faux leather leggings or how to style denim overalls you chose the lips! And boy, am I glad you did. This is a trend that I have been wanting to experiment with for a while now but I haven’t had the nerve. Also, I think it’s really easy to get caught up in the hustle and bustle of life and to find yourself wearing the same makeup combination day in and day out. Little did I know that creating ombré lips is super easy and the perfect way to give your fall look a little je ne sais quoi. I’m not going to lie, it was a little scary stepping out of my comfort zone, but I think that when you arm yourself with confidence, there’s nothing you can’t wear. This isn’t a trend that I would wear everyday, but it’s certainly fun to try it out on occasion. I look forward to experimenting with a deep red ombre lip this holiday season!
