One year ago today I was twirling through the Italianate halls of Villa La Foce with my dearest friends and family members by my side. It was a glorious summer day in the rolling hills of Tuscany, spent eating too much cheese and soppressata and drinking local Italian wines. I didn’t realize that just three days later I would get to have the fairytale wedding of my dreams. I had hoped that it would all go off without a hitch and it did. In fact, after a year and a half of planning it was even more of a dream come true than I could have ever imagined. Now, with my one year wedding anniversary just three days away, I’ve decided to finally do a blog post about my wedding and the days leading up to it. Why the delay? Well, I always try to find the balance between real life and blogger life, and some days it seems impossible, but with something as special and intimate as my wedding, I wasn’t sure that I wanted to share it with the world. But after taking a year to bask in the romantic glow of being newlyweds, and watching our wedding video at least a dozen times, I think I’m ready to share it with all of you.
On the first day at Villa La Foce, guests met at the main house to get their room assignments. We were fortunate enough to be able to host all of our 82 friends and family members at the main Villa and on the surrounding grounds of La Foce. The property has over 200 acres, so guests were scattered throughout the Tuscan countryside, making it a truly authentic Italian experience. After check in we all made our way to Dopolavoro restaurant for a big, impromptu dinner with 75% of our guests. It was completely unplanned, but everyone was so excited to finally be in Italy and was eager to see each other. It was the perfect start to a truly unforgettable trip.
I’ll be sharing photos from our wedding day in a few days so be sure to check back!
